In today’s society, pastors are regarded as some of the most admired and admirable individuals. They serve as many people’s moral compass.

People that our society expects to be morally upright, pure, and free from all flaws.

On the other end of the spectrum are musicians who are considered to be secular. Secular musicians are not expected to be faultless, perfect, and faultless.

Lil Kesh

Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lil Kesh is a Nigerian singer who is known for making such songs as Shoki, Is It Because I Love You, Efejoku, and more. During an interview with Blueprint Nigeria, the singer revealed that his father is a pastor and also spoke about his father’s reception to his music. The conversation went thus:

Interviewer – What was your dad’s reaction to your decision to become an artiste?

Lil Kesh – My dad was cool with it. He lets you do whatever you want to do. He feels that whatever his life story is doesn’t have to affect the way his children live their lives. According to what he used to tell me, everybody must live his or her individual stories. He watched me grow from being part of the choir, learning to play drums, and attending music shows. Till now, he gives me all the necessary support and respects my decisions.

Interviewer – Considering that your dad is a pastor, isn’t he bothered by your vulgar lyrics?

Lil Kesh – Those vulgar songs are basically about me doing my job and he doesn’t interfere. Besides, not all my songs are vulgar. I have recorded songs like Ishe, Semilore and others. However, the ones that go viral are the ones with vulgar lyrics. I understand my markets, and I know the demography I’m directing my music to, which is the youth and adults. I’m a blunt entertainer, but I consider my fans, and always try to give them what they want. But this year, I decided that I’ll feed my fans with more meaningful songs that will inspire them.

Johnny Drille

Singer Johnny Drille is another musician whose parents also happen to be pastors. The singer opened up about how that reality made him concerned when he made the decision to do music. He said: 

Both my parents are pastors and at the onset it was hard for them to accept that I wanted to make love songs and not very religious ones as was expected. I personally found it a difficult decision to make as I was very concerned about what people would think of me as a pastor’s kid.

I had many arguments with my parents every time they heard me making music in my room and I could totally understand why (imagine my dad preparing Tuesday’s sermon and I’m there screaming at the top of my voice, ‘oh my beautiful love…’). Overtime my parents understood me better and what I was about and began to support me more and more. My dad had contributed most of what he had when I initially wanted to shoot ‘Wait For Me’. I think they are perhaps my biggest fans right now and are very proud of me . I know they still pray for me every time not to lose sight of the original call of God

Terry G

The self-described akpako master is Nigerian musician Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known to us as Terry G. He is most known for singing songs like Free Madness, Run Mad, Akpako, Troway, and Jump Am Pass. You might be surprised to learn that despite all of Terry G’s “craziness,” he has admitted that he is the son of a pastor. Additionally, Terry G’s mother is a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s choir.

Grandson Allegedly Kills Grandmother Over Indian Hemp In Ondo

A 66-year-old grandmother, Florence Olaloye, has been murdered in Ondo State.

She was killed at her home in the Labeta in Sabo axis of Ondo town in the Ondo West Local Government area of the State.

Daily Post reports that one of the grandchildren of the deceased was accused of killing her.

The grandma, who was discovered in a pool of blood in her room by one of her grandchildren identified

The suspect’s continuing and persistent smoking of Indian hemp had been the source of ongoing disputes between the deceased and the suspect.

Before the tragic incident, it was gathered that the grandmother was cooking while she asked one of her grandchildren, Pelumi, to the market to buy snails.

Pelumi stated that when his brother asked for iron as he was ready to leave the house, he was astonished to see the elderly woman in her pool of blood when he got home from the market.

“I was about to leave the house when my brother, Vincent, came in, to iron his clothes and I immediately went inside the room and gave him the iron and I left to get the snail.

“When I came back, my brother was still in the room with my grandmother. She asked me to bring firewoods but when I came back, I met grandma on the floor in the pool of her blood.”

The suspects have been detained, according to State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami, who confirmed the development when reached.

Odunlami gave the assurance that the police command will look into the situation.
