In the wake of the highly contentious presidential election, Nigeria witnessed a surge of mudslinging and animosity, particularly from opposition members who constituted a significant portion of the electorate. The vitriolic campaign rhetoric targeted one individual in particular—Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a prominent political figure and contender for the presidency.
Detractors of Tinubu propagated baseless claims about his health, alleging that he was physically incapacitated, had difficulty recalling his surroundings, and even resorted to wearing a "pooh bag" for storage. Such malicious accusations, fueled by hatred rather than substantial evidence, created a hostile environment where individuals supporting Tinubu felt silenced and intimidated.
A seismic shift in this story, however, has been brought about by recent occurrences. President Tinubu has emerged as a force to be reckoned with, confounding his adversaries and rendering them speechless.
The president lost little time in acting, introducing a number of populist laws that were waiting under the previous administration and have now been passed into law, allowing the Nigerian people to benefit directly from his campaign promises.
This means that upon taking office, Tinubu requested that all bills awaiting presidential assent be brought before him, and he gave priority to those that are extremely important to the general populace. Personally, I can't wait for Tinubu to create the commodity bank so that rural farmers can secure their farm produce.
Notably, one of President Tinubu's key achievements is the establishment of an education bank, revolutionizing access to higher education. Under this groundbreaking initiative, students will have the opportunity to secure funding for their education and commence repayment after two years of employment.
This visionary approach not only alleviates the burden of immediate financial strain on students but also empowers them to pursue their dreams and contribute to the nation's progress.
Moreover, Tinubu's commitment to economic growth and prosperity is undeniable. In a short span of less than three weeks, he has unified the Naira, opened up the economy to investors in the oil and energy sectors, and spearheaded initiatives to ensure consistent and reliable power supply.
These measures have breathed new life into Nigeria, with citizens now enjoying the benefits of improved infrastructure and an enhanced business environment.
The impact of Tinubu's actions extends beyond mere policy implementation. He has managed to unite a country that was once divided, rekindling hope and inspiring optimism among the Nigerian populace. By focusing on the larger goals and aspirations of the nation, Tinubu has demonstrated his unwavering dedication to progress and development.
Stay focused on climbing the mountain, not on the pebbles on the path. When you concentrate on the good, it amplifies and becomes even better.
