China is getting ready to launch a war against us – Taiwan raises alarm

The Taiwanese government has come out to allege China is planning to attack the island, a day after China simulated “joint precision strikes” on Taiwan during military exercises around the island’s waters.

 

Photos released by Japan Joint Chiefs appear to show the Chinese navy aircraft carrier Shandong launching jets in the Pacific Ocean east of Taiwan during its current round of exercises around the island, in what would be the first time China has simulated strikes by aircraft carrier-based warplanes on Taiwan.

 

Beijing launched the drills on Saturday, a day after Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen returned from a 10-day visit to Central America and the United States where she met US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other US lawmakers. The military drills ended on Tuesday.

 

In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, April 12, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu condemned Beijing’s actions and warned that “they seem to be trying to get ready to launch a war against Taiwan.”

“Look at the military exercises, and also their rhetoric, they seem to be trying to get ready to launch a war against Taiwan,” Wu said.

“The Taiwanese government looks at the Chinese military threat as something that cannot be accepted and we condemn it.”

 

Asked if Taiwan has any sense of the timing of potential Chinese military action, given US intelligence assessments that Xi has instructed his military to be prepared by 2027, Wu expressed confidence in Taiwanese preparations.

“Chinese leaders will think twice before they decide to use force against Taiwan. And no matter whether it is 2025 or 2027 or even beyond, Taiwan simply needs to get ready,” he said.

Beijing described the drills as “a serious warning against the Taiwan separatist forces’ collusion with external forces, and a necessary move to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

 

Asked if the costs of a visit by Taiwan’s leader to the US were too high, Wu told CNN, “China cannot dictate how Taiwan makes friends. And China cannot dictate how our friends want to show support to Taiwan.”

Beijing conducted similar large-scale military exercises around Taiwan last August, after then-US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the island.

 

Taiwan and China have been governed separately since the end of a civil war more than seven decades ago, in which the defeated Nationalists fled to Taipei.

However, China’s ruling Communist Party claims the self-governing island as its territory, and in recent years, as his power has grown, Chinese leader Xi Jinping has made clear his ambitions to “reunify” with the island – by force if necessary.

‘My wife’s sister is seducing me and I’m developing feelings for her gradually. I don’t know how to fight the temptation’ – Man cries out for help

A Nigerian man has taken to online forum, Nairaland to seek help because he is developing feelings for his sister-in-law and it is as a result of her actions.

He said that he’s been married for nine years and his wife’s sister has lived with them for six years, but he has never thought about her in an intimate way.

However, the man claimed that lately, she’s been trying to seduce him by wearing revealing outfits around the house.

According to him, the urge to move to her is growing daily and he does not know how to fight the temptation.

He wrote: I am not really good posting my issues online. But this time i need your advise. I have been married for 9 years now and my sister inlaw has been living with us( I, my wife and the kids) for the past 6 years now, although I am not always around.

I have never imagine any negative thoughts toward her. I always see her like my younger sister, i have been taken care of her. She is 28 years old and I can’t really says if she have a boyfriend cos I haven’t see one around her.

She is a boss in her working place but yet i foots all her bills in the house without bothering anyone, including my wife that is also a boss. Until of recent she started wearing seductive clothes around the house, Some how i started developing feelings for her As if she knows, she continues wearing those clothes and started showing more caring towards me.

I can’t believed that i am having feelings for my sister inlaw cos i am a disciplined man to the core. Even during university days girls do come to my apartment passed a night without molesting them. I am well brought up. But is like that disciplined man in me started degenerating as i began to see this girl in my dreams.

There was a night i returned from travelled, i started feeling the urge to go to her room. My wife almost caught me that night cos we lives in 3 bedroom, I have my own room, my wife have her own and my sister inlaw have her own room. So we sleep in separate rooms except some occasions my wife decided to stay in my room. That night i was pimping through her door. I have been trying to control my feelings and I believed the reason why I have not sleep with her is because i am not always around and I also the fear of traditions implications of sleeping with sister inlaw . And my wife is not helping matters, she can leave both of us alone in d house and go to all night church program and the children will be sleeping.

I don’t really know what to do. Should I tell my wife so that we can get her accommodation or just let the sleeping dog be. Though I don’t really want her to leave cos is my wife and the children are alone in the compound. I just want to kill that urge before I return from travel.

Gunmen kill 24-year-old man in Ogun

Gunmen have killed a 24-year-old man, Moses Joseph, in Igode, Ogijo, the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

 

The deceased, an indigene of Benue State, was shot to death on Tuesday night, April 18.

 

Moses’ sister-in-law, Morenikeji, told Punch that the deceased was outside their house at Fakile in the Igode community, Ogijo when the assailants opened fire on him.

 

She said, “Moses is my husband’s younger brother. On Tuesday, he was around in the neighbourhood while my husband went to a football viewing centre to watch a game.

 

“Suddenly, we heard a gunshot and after that that I heard people screaming that Moses has been shot. When I heard people screaming, I went outside only to see my brother-in-law in the pool of his blood. We rushed him to the hospital but by the time we got there, he was already dead.

 

“We reported the case at Igode Police Station yesterday (April 18). The death of Moses is still like a mystery to me because when I look at what happened yesterday it is still strange.

 

Moses’ elder brother, Patrick, also confirmed his brother’s death, describing it as a dream.

 

“I can’t believe that my brother is gone just like that,” he said.

 

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the killing and said the matter, which he described as cult-related, was under investigation.

 

“The police are aware of this matter and an investigation has commenced. The case is linked to some cult activities and the police have already started an investigation on the matter,” he said.

Gbajabiamila To Meet ASUU On Tuesday Over Strike Action

Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday.

Lanre Lasisi, special adviser to Gbajabiamila on media and publicity, confirmed the development on Sunday evening.

The leadership of the house and other stakeholders are expected to attend the meeting.

The goal of the meeting is to find a solution to the industrial action which has brought academic activities in public universities to a halt since February.

The federal government has met with the leadership of ASUU multiple times to resolve the union’s demands — which includes funding of universities and lecturers’ salaries and allowances.

 

The federal government had also recently filed a suit against the union at the national industrial court over the lingering strike.
