Why I Don’t Promote Nudity With My Skits – Sabinus

Popular Nigerian skit maker and comedian, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus, has disclosed why he doesn’t promote n*dity in his skits.

According to him, he doesn’t allow n*dity in his skits because his aim is to create family content.

He spoke at the SMFest in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.

Sabinus said: “I have been in situations where some people will be like, ‘Sabinus, I want to join your comedy [group], I can do anything.’ I will say no, please let me give you a role to do. I have also had a situation where I was about to shoot and a girl was like, ‘You expect me to tie wrapper?’ I said, “My sister, that is what I love. That is what suits the story.

“Sometimes, you need a fine girl, but she mustn’t be showing bumbum and bobbies.”

Why did some people wait for @hildabaci to cook for 100 hours to discover that they can cook longer than her. When they say Africans have problems, this is part of it. Those Nigerians and other Africans suddenly woke up to cook. Please create your own niche

Phones, Gadgets Not Allowed At The Presidential Tribunal From Monday

The Massage was posted at the entrance lon Saturday 20th May 2023, and they started implementing it already.

But after some arguments, the lawyers and guests were allowed to enter with their phones just for today.

But then, the warnings were clearly sounded again:
“Starting from Monday 22nd May 2023, no Phones or Gadgets would be allowed into the Courtroom”.

No Phones at Presidential Election Tribunal Raises Concerns About Live Coverage

Read me! Phones and other gadgets are not allowed in the courtroom. Thank you as you comply,” a notice on the presidential election petition court door at the Court of Appeal in Abuja reads.

Already, the secretary of the appellate court has announced that beginning Monday, May 22, phones and gadgets would be prohibited during court hearings.

Furthermore, the court stated that it would rule on the possibility of live transmission of the election petition on Monday, but many are doubtful. Reactions on social media suggest that many citizens believe the restriction on phones and gadgets foreshadows the court’s position on a live telecast.

“We are seeking to have live broadcast of the Election Tribunal on TV stations, but the court which we are depending on for that ruling has now banned phones in the court. Which way Nigeria? Why is our judiciary like this?”, Ndi Kato said on Twitter.

Isa Bashir wrote, This presupposes that they are not likely to be transparent in their dealings. They are not going to allow live transmission of hearing. This is sad that the court is not on the side of the people.

“No need to wait till Monday to deliver judgment on live telecast. The judgment came earlier than thought,” Ezenwka tweeted.

Since the electoral tribunal hearing began, Nigerians have demonstrated a great desire to participate in its proceedings. This can be observed in the manner in which they record and share updates on the hearings, and their interest in the tribunal’s verdict on the Labour Party’s live broadcast petition.

Twitter user Samuel Ajayi stated: “If they won’t allow phones, then they should rule in favour of live broadcast on TV. This is about openness and accountability to the public. This is our case too, and we need to know what is going on.”

Likewise, Chinwe Duruaku-Agu said: “The court should rule in favour of livestreaming then to cushion this.”

Learning of the court’s decision, Alex Anthony, another Twitter user, wrote, “So that means they would rule against live broadcasting of the tribunal. Gradually, we are watching.”

“This is not a good sign. If mobile phones are banned in the PEPT court, it implies the application for live coverage of court proceedings will not be granted, and ultimately, an order from above may determine the judgment that will be delievered…,” added Nwophoke Solomon.

On the other hand, there are some who continue to be hopeful for a positive outcome.

Kolade Rafael, for instance, wrote, “Live broadcasts on TV stations are not phone recordings. They’re two different things; there’s no need to make assertions or assumptions yet.”

“Although the Secretary of the Appeal Court has said there will be no smart phones allowed in court from Monday, it is different from allowing the ‘Media Team’ into the court and streaming live proceedings,” said Rufus Onya.

Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments

For inclusion in government, a social-cultural group, Igbo Speaking Community, has appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to consider qualified Igbo resident in the state for political appointments.

The President-General, Igbo Speaking Community, Mr. Sunday Udeh, made the appeal in Lagos against the backdrop of Sanwo-Olu’s second term when the Council of Ndi Eze Lagos State visited him.

Udeh stated that for the purposes of inclusiveness and ethnic balancing, Igbo should be given opportunity when nominating new appointees, as it would create the much-needed ethnic and political balance.

“I want to state here that before the All Progressives Congress (APC) party primaries in Lagos State, we appealed to the party to consider an Igbo man for the Lagos State House of Assembly, as we only had one man out of 40 members.”

He noted that the Igbos played a decisive role in the last gubernatorial election, where all Igbo, market women came out en-mass despite the hiccups to ensure that Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu was re-elected for a second term.

As such, appointing an Igbo man will go a long way for the party to have a smooth running in future election.

“Hence, the election is over and no single Igboman in the decision making body was elected. For this reason, we make this passionate appeal that the governor when making new appointments should give the Igbos at least three commissioner slots.

“We also appeal to the governor to plead with the party leaders to either retain Jude Idimogu or give us another lgboman that will stand as a voice because the Igbos needed someone to represent them.”

Earlier, the Chairman, Council of Ndi Eze Lagos State, Eze Chika Nwokedi said that his visit to the Office of the President General was to reassure the leadership of Igbo Speaking Community of his commitment to bring the Ndi Eze under one umbrella in the state.

Brighton Have Qualified For European Football — It’s The First Time In The Club

Brighton secured qualification for European football for the first time in their history with a 3-1 win over Southampton.

A win, due to their superior goal difference, means they are all but set to finish in the Premier League top six which guarantees Europa League qualification.

Exactly 40 years since their only major final appearance in the FA Cup when defeated by Manchester United, this was a historic day for a football club that avoided relegation from the football league on the final day of the 96/97 season with a 1-1 draw that sent Hereford down on goal difference. Their rise has been astronomical under the ownership of Tony Bloom.

Huge achievement for the club, players and for the coach Roberto de Zerbi.

Four Killed In Taraba Communal Clash

Four persons have been feared killed in a violent clash between the Kuteps and the Hausas in Takum town, Takum Local Government of Taraba State.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the clash took place on Sunday afternoon when youths from the Kuteb tribe allegedly attacked some Hausa men, killing four of them, residents claimed.

“Both communities mobilised against each other, thereby creating tension in Takum”. Ishaya Angyu told this newspaper.

He said the incident happened at a boundary community between Ussa Local Government and Takum before it escalated to Takum town.

“Right now, I am in Takum, and there is serious tension, but soldiers are controlling the situation,” he said.

“I can confirm to you that approximately four people have been killed, but we do not have the full statistics of the casualties as of now,” Mr Angyu said.

Another resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, said, “The violence started as a result of frequent attacks by the Kutebs on other tribes, especially the Fulanis.”

He said if the situation were not immediately controlled, it would eventually become a religious crisis.

When contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, the caretaker committee chairman of Takum LGA, Boyi Manja, said: “I am not in my local government, and I don’t want to give half-baked information; when I am in Takum, I will get the details,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the Taraba State Police Command said it had not received a brief on the matter.

Tinubu Cabinet: Muslims Lobby President-elect For More Ministers Than Christians

“We refer specifically to states like Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kogi, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Niger, Kaduna, Kebbi, Lagos, etc.

“Nigerian Muslims demand fair representation. We demand inclusiveness and full integration into the Nigerian political space. This is without prejudice to the preference for competence.

“The records set by Professor Ishaq Oloyede (JAMB Registrar) and Professor Isa Ali Pantami (Minister of Communications and Digital Economy) in office remain indubitable proof of hidden administrative icons among Nigerian Muslims although only unbiased Presidents and governors will find them.

“We are not asking Tinubu to sacrifice excellence on the altar of mediocrity. We have no scintilla of doubt that there are eminently qualified Muslims in all fields of human endeavour.

“We assert clearly, emphatically and categorically that failure to find suitable Muslims in any state of the federation for a ministerial appointment is like failure to find coal in Newcastle.

“Of course it is only logical that Ministers from states like Sokoto, Borno, Kano and Jigawa will all be Muslims while those from Enugu, Anambra, Rivers and Cross Rivers will be an all-Christian affair. The governors in those states may give one or two minorities appointments as commissioners and board members.”

‘Juicy’ post

In another statement titled, ‘El-Rufai Deserves Juicy Post’, the group hinged its position for a ‘juicy’ post for El-Rufai under the Tinubu administration on the role played by the Kaduna governor and eleven fellow governors from the North in ensuring that the South got the mandate during the APC presidential primary.

“As the days inch closer to the inauguration of the new administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigerian political spectrum has been inundated with power struggle intrigues and post allocation schemes. This is not new to us since we know that failure is an orphan but winners are always surrounded by all and sundry”, the statement said.

“However, we deem it germane to remind the president-elect of the need to pay debts owed and appreciate those who made his current status a fait accompli. This is important in order to start sowing the seed of success for the incoming administration as well as to secure a strong foothold for 2027.

“Gratitude is a major characteristic of a good Muslim. Allah says in the Glorious Qur’an, ‘If you are grateful, I will increase my favours on you…’ (Qur’an 14:7). If the president-elect shows appreciation to the ‘Noble Dozen’ from the North, he will enjoy more of their solidarity.

”It is noteworthy that the ‘Noble Dozen’ (i.e. the twelve governors who insisted that power must shift to the South) was led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

“There is no Nigerian who is unaware of the unique support and unequalled solidarity given by this northern group to the president-elect. El-Rufai in particular left his palatial office in Kaduna to spend days in Abuja.

“His contribution to our victory, the victory of the Muslim-Muslim ticket is unquantifiable. He became the mouthpiece of the Muslim-Muslim ticket camp, moving from one media house to another. We must not allow all these to go in vain”.

Apology

But in another statement about 24 hours later, entitled, MURIC Withdraws The Word ‘Juicy’, Replaces It With ‘Top’, Apologises, the group said: “Our attention has been drawn to the word ‘juicy’ used in yesterday’s statement as not being decent enough.

“In the statement, we canvassed for a top post to be given to Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State in the incoming administration. We inadvertently used the word ‘juicy post’ instead of ‘top post’ It is not in our character to be insolent, loose or to use vulgar language.

“We hereby withdraw the word ‘juicy’ and replace it with the word ‘top’. We apologise to all those who might have taken note of the offensive word.”

Japa’: UK To Ban Nigerian Students, Others From Travelling With Families

'Japa': UK To Ban Nigerian Students, Others From Bringing Family Over
The United Kingdom Government is set to announce restrictions that will most likely stop Nigerian students, and other nationalities studying in the country from bringing their families over.

Naija News gathered that the restrictions will be announced this week by Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, following reports that net migration into the UK has skyrocketed to 1 million.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun UK, a Tory member of Parliament said the restrictions will see all Masters’ students and many other Postgraduate students banned from bringing family over.

However, the lawmaker stated that the ban will not apply to Ph.D. students, whose courses usually last between 3 and 5 years and are very highly skilled.

The newspaper stated that Tory Members of Parliament had asked Prime Minister Sunak to get a grip on the net migration into the UK has reached 1 million.

The Sun quoted the MP as saying that “Rishi Sunak is expected to come out fighting on immigration – pointing out they are figures he inherited as they date back to the year ending December 2022 – two months after he became PM.

“There has been an explosion in the number of people coming to Britain piggybacking on their relative’s student visa.

“Students brought 135,788 family members to Britain last year – nine times more than in 2019.

Pregnant Woman Arrested For Cutting Her Teenage Maid With Knife In Lagos

A 30-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs Eucharia Ndigwe has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly cutting her teenage maid’s body with a knife at Adaloko, in the Ojo area of the state.

A viral video circulating on social media shows the girl, who identified herself as Chinaza Anienene, from Anambra State, with an open wound with blood gushing out from the left side of her body.

In the video recorded by a concerned neighbour, the girl claimed her aunty cut her body with a knife because she failed to wash a bag given to her by the woman.

The neighbour said that he heard the teenager’s cry again on Friday May 19, and decided to visit the apartment, where he found blood dripping from the girl’s body.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said the woman was arrested on Saturday, May 20, 2023, by the Ijanikin Police Division after the police got information that the victim, one Florence Anienene, was injured with a knife by her aunty.

“The woman was arrested. It was discovered that she is heavily pregnant and was transferred to the Gender Unit of the command where they will work with the Lagos State Domestic, Sexual and Gender Violence Agency,”
 the PPRO said.

“While she is there, they will take care of her medically while investigation is ongoing,” he added.
